Storage
Hi Guys,
Well its time to put my Florida XK8 in storage while I return to NY for the summer and I'm wondering what I should do! Normally on my other vehicles I disconnect the battery and over inflate the tires. My top is currently in the open/down position...should I put the top up? I store in my garage, I also have a soft car cover. Should I cover it?
Thank you!

I have a coupe, so I have no idea about the top (I would guess you would want to keep it up to avoid creasing, but I really have no idea.
But what I do is:
1. Drive till empty. Then pour a bottle of sta-bil in the take when I fill up right before putting it in storage.
2. Change the oil.
3. Overinflate the tires slightly (I forgot to do this this past year and there was no issue, though).
4. Once I put it in storage, I remove the battery and put it on a battery tender for the duration of storage.
The main things are 1 and 4. Before I start it up again, I remove the fuel pump fuse and crank the motor to get oil circulating again. Then I replace the fuse, and it starts right up as if it had never been in storage.

Good practice to change oil and filter before storage .
Every internal combustion engine has some degree of blow by gasses, which are very, very acidic. These gasses are readily absorbed into your oil. Leaving this oil to sit all off season (or longer) will give your bearings a very not so nice acid bath. You really don’t want your bearings to be sitting in this acidic oil for months.

One year, I bought a box of Bounce dryer sheets and laid them all throughout the cube my car was in and in the car, around the engine etc. I have heard they repel pests and rodents. Not sure how true it is, but I do know my car smelled pretty good when I took it back out of storage. Cheap and can't hurt (unless you forget about sheets you left in important places)
