straight pipes exhaust fun above 3k rpm, blah below
Already had the rear mufflers deleted, today had the central one removed and had pipes clamped on to see how I liked it. Sounds great accelerating above 3k rpm BUT as the day went on I found the sound not so good above idle and below 3k. Hmmm. Perhaps something loose.
Also getting impression less low end torque, which I expected when all mufflers off but not when straight pipes put in.
Hmmm. Cut outs vs glass pipes in middle vs proven mufflers at back used by others. We shall see.
I cant have the pickup trucks and muscle cars have all the fun sounds now that new Jags roar from the factory!
Toggle switch on CATS and toggle for heavier steering both done so Sunday flogging should be fun, and loud

Weisberg, no offense intended but Jaguar didn't want their cars to sound like a mussel car or pick up.
If you really want your 'kitty' to roar rather than purr like a kitten scrap the factory exhaust headers and get a pair of equal length stainless steel tube headers fabricated. Connect those expensive and very efficient new headers to straight though (no right angle bends thank you) catalysts which should flow their output to an X-pipe and then on back to something like a Flowmaster exhaust system. That system will push all the right buttons, not drive you completely nuts while cruising and sound as sweet as a Ferrari V8.
The same sound can be achieved [while avoiding installation costs] by lighting a few thousand one dollar bills on fire. Tell you what, if I had a pocket full of silly money - I'd do it in a heart beat.

I did exactly what Phil did and in the same order. Still had a drone at 2000 RPM but, really sounded sweet at 4000+. Here are some pictures. All custom work and about $350 total including the 4" blackened stainless steel tips.
