Super sport suspension and adaptive dampening CATS

I am trying to understand what this suspension system does for my 03 XKR. I currently have a leaking front shock that I want to replace. I have the Adaptive dampening and have the wires going to the shocks. Is this suspension always active or can you turn it on and off? Does the sport switch operate this function or is it just for the gear box shifts. I noticed the ride was choppy at about MPH like I had a flat spot on the tires or hard dampening. Almost all the front suspension was just replaced and all alignments done. The service tech indicated that one of the front shock was slightly leaking and that they use a special mechanical coupling on my XKR, instead of rubber bushings to mount the shock and that that was a little loose also. I believe these shocks are made by Bilstein. I have not been able to find any info on the Forum about this system. Any help would be appreciated.
