Tell us dumbest thing you've ever done

0-60 in a 40 next to unmarked cop
I had all the mufflers off for a few days, and I loved the thunder in town but the loss of lower end torque was noticable and the highway noise unbearable. I decided to demonstrate the loss of low end torque to biz partner in car when pulled into pole position at a light. Car next to me was a black Taurus SHO. I hit it hard and forgot to back off at 45. Black Taurus swerved in behind me with lights a flashin behind the windshield.
I pulled after a few blocks later to safely stop at a strip mall parking lot. I slowly opened the door to reveal I am a middle aged guy. Tall, older, very fit state trooper emerged and I immediately explain we were testing lack if exhaust system. He asked where, I stated shop blocks away, he then asked with who, and I named the owner.
"He has been working on my car for 20 years! Tell him I said hi. I pulled you over for getting to 60 in a 40, but take it easy from here on."
i was let off but got overcharged for the lame exhaust job although subtracting the ticket I would have deserved made it easier. Yes, the officer checked up on my story a week later with the shop.

Was 16 and earned myself a crash course (literally) on what happens when you cross a rear heavy car (Fiero) with an off camber corner. The resulting maneuver was similar to something in aerobatic circles known as a Lumshevak or an endover.
The car snapped around, stuck the left rear wheel into a small embankment and stood up on end. There was a split rail fence on the that little embankment and red paint (color of the car) was later found on the TOP of posts that were STILL STANDING.
No injuries were sustained outside of the vehicle, which was a total loss, but spectators indicated that it was a rather spectacular performance and that everyone got a good view of the bottom of the car.
I claim that this incident is the reason that I went on to study physics and engineering in college. It all makes sense now...
Ah to be young (and stupid) again.
