Testing the tires on my XKR
The day I brought my 2002 XKR Convertible home to Iowa, Easter Sunday, I took my 12 year old daughter out for a ride.
After driving around for a while, we decided it was time to uphold a tradition.
That tradition was to leave as long a burnout as possible on Jordan Creek Parkway in front of Jordan Creek Mall. I had done this in my 2005 SSR and the tracks lasted for months. Every time we drove by, we would giggle at it.
So, at the main intersection to the entrance to the mall, I turned off the traction control, held the brake with my left foot and floored it. After about 20 to 30 seconds of smoking the tires, I let off the brake and proceeded to burnout across the intersection.
We made such a large cloud of smoke it completely engulfed the gas station to the west of us. hehe
My brother saw the smoke as he was coming to my house and thought there was a fire.
I have attached a picture of the marks we left. You can even see the pattern of my tread in the marks. Keep in mind these were brand new Michelins. The picture was taken about an hour later.
Since we live nearby, we see these marks all the time. They are still there after a month. hehe
Traditions are important to a family. I try to teach my daughter what is important in life.

OK. So I did it again and both tires spun. I did it a third time and took a video of me doing it. It is in the link below. It is an mp4 format, so you may or may not be able to play it back.
I am not sure if my car has a limited slip or if I am just cooler than everyone else. hehe
I am running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus
I honestly don't care about the cost of new tires. But I do understand that not everyone is in that position, so yes, doing these burnouts will reduce the life of your tires.

I know the video will playback with Quicktime and Divx player. It may work better to download the video then play it. It is only 9 MB.
