Default These body paint photos will absolutely........

These body paint photos will absolutely make your day and you will find it hard to believe that this sexy XK8 is actually naked. But as you view these pictures, you will quickly begin to realize that there is nothing hotter than a beautiful car covered in a protective coating.
I wanted to buy a bra as this is the season for rocks and bugs. I am tired of seeing new chips appear. But when I looked at the XK8 paint scheme (monochromatic), I decided that I could subtly alter the look and have good protection too!
I purchased:
4 cans of black matte Plasti Dip paint
1 roll of blue painter's tape
I quart of denatured alcohol
Plastic drape material
After masking all the lines on the car to protect from over-spray, i scrubbed the paint with alcohol and let it dry. I then sprayed one fog coat then 3 heavy coats watching for drips. Time between coats was about 30 minutes.
Take a look at the results and tell me what you think. The nice part about this process is that once you get through the season, would like to change colors or just take off her clothes, the "body paint" just peels off like a hot date!

That looks phenomenal! Nice job.

Sooner or later though it will have to come off and be replaced. How are you going to deal with that? I know the spray on bras/skins are supposed to just peel off - I'd never considered the Plastic Dip.

Very neat work.
Do you know for a fact it just peels off?

Plasti-Dip peels off easily once you start on an edge. I have this on my truck and it comes off faster than it does to prepare it. It also does no damae to the original paint. That is the real bonus.

The exhaust tips are part of the "Muffler Delete" from Mina Gallery.

Yes, Graham, it peels very easily. If the surface is damaged for some reason, just peel it off and start over. Theoretically, if you had a brand new car and "dipped" it every year or so, your original paint would be just as new as the day you brought it home five- ten years later.

Good idea for what you want but I honestly can't say I like the look at all. Not something I would want to drive. It does however present a good option for experimenting with different designs. For example I kind of like the rear and perhaps a more detailed side in a contrasting color but the full front bra effect leaves a little to be desired.

I'd be tempted to use this like a clear bra for across country road trips. Protection that peels off when I'm done, and it looks better than blue painters tape!

I also hate leather car bras. Any dirt gets underneath, and even if very well fitted, the bra will rub the paint with all the contaminants. When I see a car bra, I wonder if it's hiding damage, or if it is being used thinking it will prevent damage (prevents rock chips yes, but it comes with the side effect of beating up paint with scratches too). Clear bras seem really interesting to me.
