Frog,
Sorry, you'll not be adding to the discussion of our cars any longer, but frankly, I don't get it. You claimed to have "tweaked to perfection" your car, but for what reason to become a garage queen? Not for driving and enjoying it? Unless you're buying a car for collector status and future appreciation, why on earth wouldn't you be driving a car you have prepared to enjoy on an everyday basis. I bought mine almost 4 years ago so that I could drive it everyday. Nearly 70,000 miles later (128,000 total), I maintain it to look and drive as almost new, I enjoy driving it as my daily driver, and I can't even imagine locking it in the garage as if in a museum. These cars are inexpensive classics that allow one to drive everyday because of that. I wish you well in the future but I don't think you'll enjoy looking at or driving the VW the same was as you did your Jag. Good luck.

I am provided a company car which I get to choose (every five years) there are no restrictions on use and my company pays for gas insurance and repairs so its pretty easy to use that car first.

With a total of 5000 kilometres in 3 years (average here is 20K a year) My Jag is a toy and only use it once a week for a short run (70 kilometres return) and the occasional long run. My every day Nissan Patrol averages 25,000 K's per year.
Make an interesting thread to see just why people own a Jag. Yes it is a 3rd car but other Jags have been no different. I just like them! Cheap to buy, different, look good, smell nice, drive well....yep I just like Jags.

Sorry to see you go.
However, I just don't understand why people hang on to the "Jags are unreliable" meme. The 2003+ cars are among the most reliable. I've taken mine on a couple of 6000+ mile cross-country trips and currently commute weekly between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. There have been no problems beyond normal maintenance and wear-and-tear.
