Default Tire choice for everyday driving FL

I have an 03 XK8 in need of new tires. This is my every day ride...no track or high speed involved. I live in FL. Trying to decide between AS and Summer tires. Narrowed to Michellin Pilot Sport or Conti Extreme contact. The AS tires are a good bit less expensive. Suggestions please.

Welcome to the forums mcshelley,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Centre to XK8/XKR forum. As it states at the top, the Feedback & Suggestion Centre IS NOT FOR TECHNICAL QUESTIONS, it's for posts about the forums. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

I am on my second set of the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires. The first set lasted very well. Were stable, smooth and quiet their entire life of about 50K. Second set is equally performing for their first 20K.

I will not consider another tire for my 2004 XK8 at this point. The Michelins are that satisfying.

Tires are like oil so I expect you will get a lot of variety in opinions.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ on our 2001 XKR and absolutely love them. Quiet, smooth, and superb traction even in wet.

I have Contis on our 2003 XJ8, and I service a 2011 XKR with Continental Extremecontact Sports (I think), and they are also excellent tires. But I don't think I'll ever put anything but Pilot Sports on our XKR.

By the way, I put the widest tires that would fit on the rear, 285 mm width, I think, and went down one size in aspect ratio to keep the rolling circumference very close to the original tires, and I really love the way the rear end feels more hooked up. You may not want to even consider this if you don't drive sportily on occasion.

Cheers,

Don

Another vote for Michelin.

Had a set of PS4s fitted earlier in the year. I haven't exactly chewed up a lot of miles, but I'm more than happy with them. Good grip and quiet.
