Top alignment procedure
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A SITE FOR THE ALIGNMENT OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP - 2005 XK8 - MIGHT HAVE GONE ASTRAY SINCE BATTERY REPLACEMENT WAS DONE. TOP RETRACTS BUT WILL NOT CLOSE. REAR WINDOWS ARE COMPLETELY DOWN. CAN MANUALLY CLOSE USING PUMP VALVE AND HEX WRENCH PROCEDURE. THANKS.

It would be most helpful if you would put the model and year of your vehicle in your signature that way we know what you are working on.
The problem with you top may be a bad relay. I have attached a word doc that shows the relays for the operation of the top.
The first step would be to lower the top electrically if possible. That will start the proper sequence for the top. The top controls can get confused so its best to start with what is working. Do you hear the tone indicating that the top is down?
Once the top is down remove and swap the top down relay with the top up relay. Once you have swapped relays try to put the top up as it would normally close. Success? If so you need a new relay. No success? Report back and we can continue.
I have also attached a link to the web site for GUS. He knows more about these tops than anyone around and hopefully will pop by later.
