97 XK8. how do you get the little speakers out of the the dash pad? Do the little covers pop put or does the complete dash pad need to come off?

The covers pop off. While you are there, be sure to tighten up the dash bolts. They hold the dash cover down. Also there is a third pop-off cover in the center of the dash used for this purpose. gordo

Gordo,

Have you (or anyone else for that matter) had the occasion to remove the dash? I have something loose under there that did not get fixed in two trips to the dealer.

I havent pulled the dash; however, I'd say its not going to be easy. Regarding under dash noises: There is an issue with the defroster plastic surrounds detaching from the dash assy. Creaks and rattles. Worse in the winter cold. Search around. I havent found a good fix yet. gordo

I understand that removing the dash and installing an adhesive on the defrost surround is an option and has been done. However, you could install foam between the window and the dash. You can get it in any color. I was going to install the foam but I wanted to try removing the dash cover first. What I have found on removing the dash are 3 screws 2 under the speakers and one in the center of the dash. The rest is a guessing game like the rest of the car! If you find a way please let me know.
