Top hydraulic system needs repair
Time to bite the bullet and tear into the top machinery. There is for sure a leak of fluid as after three months of even limited putting top up and down I have to add a bit of fluid. It is leaking from somewhere and I know that because its all original it is pointless to replace just a hose. Once the back seat is out time to do it all. My problem is I lack the garage space, the tools, and most of all the talent to DIY. I will be checking with a few shops here in the Northwest to fine someone who's done this a few times and at what price. Already I've ruled out the Jag dealer. Haven't had even a hint of the green shower yet but I believe my life with a 1999 XK8 will be full without that experience.

I see your other post has been moved. Maybe you can delete it, but I have no clue.
The cylinder seals eventually give out, as does the seal for the latch, so look just in front of the rear wheels for hydraulic fluid. I repaired a XKR and found it leaking where the jack fits. They can be sent to Top Hydraulics for rebuild, also a good source for new hoses.
I can understand your reluctance to take this project on if you don't have a good work space. The cylinders and their hoses are not too difficult, but the top latch hoses are a rather large undertaking.
