Default Track/Tie Rod Ends & Wheel bearings - are there stronger alternatives?

Did a search and can't find anything.

My 96 coupe has powerflex bushes all around 2005 springs and new shocks (adjustable KYB's on the front). The ride is firmer but I like it that way.

Question is that every 15-20k miles I have to change the TRE's and the front wheel bearings. I know this has probably been amplified because the car is stiffer elsewhere due to the polybushes but it's a complete pain, esp since each time I have to have the alignment done...grrrr

So are there any aftermarket alternatives that are more robust in these areas? Am sure not but thought I'd ask.

As you have a 96 you will have the smaller 76mm bearings, when Jaguar started using 20" wheels they killed the bearings. Jaguar uprated them to 80mm, when an XK came in for a bearing change they simply changed the entire hub.
You can tell by looking behind the hub, if the hub is cast it will have scallop shapes cut out between the studs which are screwed in, if it is the larger bearings the back of the hub will be smooth turned with pressed in studs which protrude by about 4mm

And this means that the hub replacement and the extra 4mm means they never need to be replaced or just less often?

TBH buying the TRE's themselves is cheap as is fitting them (I have done myself) it's the PITA tracking alignment afterwards. So if upgrading the hubs doubles the mileage the TRE's need to be replaced that will be good enough for me.

There is no such thing as a life time wheel bearing on these cars.... It will depend on what wheels you are running? 18s or smaller and yes they will last longer, if you are running 20s on the smaller bearing you will kill it quickly and the larger bearing will last as long as 76mm on standard wheels.... if that makes sense

18" wheels so perhaps will keep on the look-out for a set of hubs on Ebay.

Thanks XKRacer
