Transmission fault code

Jon89: a worn valve body contributed to burned out clutches. Put in a new valve body, etc. The shop is Supreme Auto Service (formerly Rose & Sons Transmission). He said my trans, with 70K on it, was sooner than expected, but he claims he sees this happen 90-100K occasionally. Chris is the guy to talk to. I had a very good experience. Do you know of any Jag mechanics around?
Motorcarman: good advice! This shop was my 2nd opinion after the Jag dealer! There aren't many trans shops or Jag mechanics in my area.

deacon,
Thanks for the details. Keep us posted on your rebuilt ZF as you put some miles on your car. Did your guy stay with Lifeguard 6 ATF or use something else?
My preferred indie shop in our area is Flying Circus English Cars in Durham, phone (919) 596-4250. The owner is Toby Briggs. He has always been fair and honest with me. I cannot say that about our local dealership in Cary although since their staff changes a couple of years ago, their customer relations approach has improved somewhat....

I ended up going to a reputable Transmission shop rather than a Jag specialist. It turns out the tranny was toast. The car had 149K miles on it, but only the last 1,000 were mine. They ended up rebuilding the transmission, replacing the torque converter, a couple of the sensors, and overhauled the whole thing for $4K.
This is only about $800 more than when my Volvo Xmission died at 250K miles. I don't know if I will get that many miles on my Jag but I'll give it the
'ol college try.
She runs like a dream now and I can hit the beach with the top down. Money well spent!
