Default transmission issues

driving along in my 97 xk8 81000 miles on the clock today and the transmission light came on and the car went into limp mode no slipping no roaring just limp mode i was at a stop light . when i got the car home i parked it shut it off and it would not start. when i returned to the car 2 hours later the car started right up and the dash light was out ??????????????????????? HELP

Default transmission code

the code reads transmisiion gear position switch and also another code communication lost instrument cluster and also my radio and climate control screens have gone screwy

Can you give us the code numbers as it appears on the screen not the interpretation?

Also can you define screwy as far as the radio and climate control screens? As a first step, can you just reboot your electrical system and see if that helps?

do you mean disconnect and recconect the battery ?

He probably means hard reset. Disconnect negative cable, touch it to positive cable to drain capacitors then reconnect. I think it has even been suggested to leave the battery disconnected for 15 min.
