Default Trouble Starting in the cold

I have a 2006 Jaguar xk8. I have trouble starting my car when it's cold out...What do you think could be the cause? She starts right up in the summer???

We need a bit more information. Is it slow cranking? How old is the battery? Do you get any dash messages that seem strange. The more info you give us the better we'll be able to help you

Default Trouble Starting....

The battery is brand new, there are no dash messages...She just cranks and cranks for a bit then starts, then for the rest of the day it's fine. This only happens when it's really cold out and she's been sitting for a while (day or two). This problem recently started after hurricane Sandy. I had to replace the fuse box, and my seat motors.

So are you saying this car was partially flooded during Sandy's visit to NY?

Default Trouble Starting....

Kind of...the water never reached the engine. I was just below the body.

You'll need someone more versed in the electrics than I, but luckily there are plenty on this forum.

I would start looking for a faulty or corroded connection somewhere. First check the grounds for the main fuses in the trunk. Plenty of threads on this topic if you search.

Takes lots of juice to start up these V8s from cold and a bad connection will starve the process.

Good Luck!

Certainly any electrical connections or modules which got wet are suspect and should be tested/inspected.

However, there is a fairly common 'slow start' problem on the 2003-2006 models due to a faulty check valve in the fuel pump...so this is another possibility.

You might want to take your cat to a carwash and use the wand to rinse the bottom off. LOL I just reread that. Sandy water will be salt water and won't be good for the body work. I think White has the answer with the faulty check valve you could check it with a fuel pressure gage. If you kind of plan it for a period that you know you will not be driving you could leave it hooked up and check it the next day or two for leak down.
