Trunk light microswitch gremlin
After reviewing threads about trunk courtesy light problems and the associated microswitch, I purchased a new Cherry switch Jaguar LNC6242AC from Terry's Jaguar Parts.
With the original switch, the lights would not work but the truck unlocking mechanism worked fine. I installed the new switch today and it solved the light problem but upon install the unlocking mechanism would not work. If I unplug the new microswitch harness the unlocking mechanism works fine and if I install the old switch, the lights do not work but the unlocking mechanism works fine.
Any suggestions?

I fooled with switch some more and it seems that if I depress the switch plunger fully the lights go out and the locking mechanism works. However, if I install the switch, and close the trunk lid, the locking mechanism does not work. It seems that the latch cam is not adequately activating the plunger. It the latching mechanism adjustable???

The actauating motor is in the side side of the trunk

Just wanted to get you a response of some sort. I can't take a look at mine at the moment as it's 8:30PM on Christmas Eve, but I do know that the motor that actuates the trunk release is mounted behind a panel on the right side of the trunk. I can't recall exactly how it works as it's been almost 3 years since I had to replace the micro-switch in mine but the motor pulls a rod that releases the latch so if there's an adjustment that can be made it will be in that rod or linkage at one end or the other.
May get a look in a day or two but this may show you a way.

Trunk latch mechanism
XK8 Comfort in my 1999 XK8 Svc. Manual that you can download from the stickie section (should be the same) the mechanism and it's actuating cables, etc. are outlined on pages 2937-2940 and I'm thinking that a shim(s) that changes the length of the cable pull either to be longer or shorter might work.
