Trunk lights and "Boot Open Gremlins
Trunk lights won't come on but very rarely, extremely rare "Boot Open" message. Ordered new micro switch and pulled the old one which tested fine but when I plug it back into the car, no lights, no message? Lights have power, bulbs are good. Something else is blocking the circuit? Any ideas?

Yes. The SCLM is under the fuse box.
I think it's time to remove the shelves in the trunk over spare tire, over battery and the panel that covers the locking mechanism (jg classic parts has replacement push clips for super cheap for the panel) and unbolt the fuse box. SCLM is clipped in under the fuse box case. Have a look around.
The SCLM is easy to open. See if it's gotten chalky inside. I'll have to go and look at the ED to be of any more use,,, but I ain't super excited to do that, 😂
The problem is there, somewhere. Check the state of the ground posts just over the battery as well.

Replaced the micro switch, all is good. Accidentally touched the "Valet" button. The only way to get it out of "Valet" mode was to disconnect the battery. Opened the trunk with the key and "chirp", valet mode off! The switch is an input to the SLM and now all the little gremlins have been solved!!
