Trunk trim with "JAGUAR" imprinted
I walked by another XKR the other day and was staring at it's *** for a bit. Something was different. I finally realized the trim surrounding the trunk button, the piece that says "JAGUAR," was chrome! Mine is painted the same as the car- Platinum.
I'm havin' a little chrome envy.

Out of the factory I was lead to believe all XKRs were coded, it was only when they got to the dealers a lot of would be R owners prefered the look of the chrome, mainly because it went well with the lights and so they were often changed. I have many XKR post 2001 owners with chrome finishers, but I have none XK8 with coded.
Has any one done a 'how to' on the finisher? I have a load of pics I could post up

I think they came out mid way between 2000 and 2001 with the chrome trunk finisher. I'm not sure if they were on XKR's only or not. I will look it up in tonight when I get home. then I believe they went color coded in 2003. I know my 2001 Silverstone it is chrome and that was standard in all of the press releases and brochures for the car. I don't know about the British market. I believe this info's for the North American market.

In a word, no! But please post some pics!
I'm reviving this thread from August to ask that you post up some of those pictures you have of the chrome boot plinth install. It's probably somewhat straightforward, but I'm certainly interested in making the boot button operational for my 1997. It would be very helpful for me (and many others in the future) if you could give us some visuals.
Thanks -
