Use the factory recomended plug.... you don't have to get them from the dealer, but use them.
I bought some top dollar name brand platinums and got bit by the cold start flooding issue twice... (even though they cross reference as being equivalent but "better" double platinum...etc)
XK8s are very well known for cold start flooding....

Just did plugs and coil packs. I used ngk iridium about 7.99 ea. No problems.
I also used anti seize on plugs as well as dielectric grease on all electrical connections. Use a flash light to shine light into the plug well to be sure there is no debree, i can't spell tonight. I had oil in two of mine which were on the same bank. I used a paper towel to soak up the oil. Then I used compressed air to blow out the well before I removed the plug. Finding the oil led me to needing a valve cover gasket set, for the right bank. Carquest for about $75.00. I got them from my jag dealer for $94.00. Their set included the valve gasket 1, plugwell gaskets 4, bolt gaskets 2, and a seal for the cam sensor 1.
But I needed to ask them to match or get close to the Car Quest price. Also if you do need to get your covers off you will need a 10mm universal 1/4" drive socket for one specific bolt, Sears Craftsman about 8.00. The bottom bolt at the firewall is not accessable without this socket.
CAUTION: DO NOT ROTATE THE VALVE COVER OVER THE ENGINE THE GASKET IS WHAT HOLDS THE BOLTS TO THE COVER. THE HEAD IS FULL OF HOLES THAT WILL EASILY SWALLOW THEM. JUST PULL STRAIGHT UP. THE BOLTS WILL STAY IN PLACE WITH THE COVER. AGAIN BECAUSE THE GASKET HOLDS THEM IN PLACE.
