Unexpected tire surprise

Hey Ted, the Delco guy came through (I was dealing with David who I believe is son of the original owner). In the past I had always dealt with Randy but he is no longer there due to health issues.
So the way it ended up is that David credited me back about $220 which was the cost of the alignment and the road hazard warranties I bought. For some reason he needed to keep the tire price same on the receipt and he says he is still arguing with the supplier for the pricing that was given to Delco.
Overall it works out okay since I may have paid a bit more for the tires compared with the lowest priced places but I essentially got free alignment and free road hazard warranty. I told David I did not want to seem like a pita and he said no problem and in fact he was happy I did the price comparison since it enabled him to find out that this supplier was gouging him.
The funny thing is that I had always had some concern about the construction of the Pirelli's since there is a pretty sharp transition from the sidewall to the tread that looked like a candidate for problems. Sure enough that is where the front tire split and fell apart.
I really like the look and feel of the Hankook tires so all's well that ends well.

If you can allow your Jaguar to ride and handle like a Camry buy Hancook or Khumo tire. Then again why not just buy a Camry too and save even more.
Any tire brand will certainly cost less, hold air, give decent tire mileage and remain in balance.
However if you want your Jaguar to handle like it was designed buy a quality European tire.

Hey Frank--that is kind of an a**hole comment. I made it clear to the tire guy that price wasn't the critical factor. I would gladly pay more if it was worth it. The Pirelli's that were on the car felt pretty ragged and it does not bode well for a tire to fall apart like mine did.
If you scour the web you can find all sorts of raves and complaints for almost any tire out there. One guy thinks Michelin are the best thing since sliced bread while the next guy hates them and ditto for almost all brands.

The Uniroyal Tiger Paw series has generally been considered a fairly marginal tire during the past decade or so. Complaints always centered around high road noise and short tread life characteristics. But I must admit that I haven't researched Tiger Paw tires in many years due to their consistently low ratings on Tire Rack and everywhere else I remember seeing them way back when. Perhaps Uniroyal has stepped up their game by now. I would do plenty of new research before ordering Tiger Paws, though....

I also use Hankooks EVO V12, 245-40 on front and 275-35 on rear. Love them! Got them from Tire Rack .com and had them installed at Pep Boys. The prices were even cheaper that what Pep Boys wanted for the same tires.
PS: this my second set of tires. First set came with the car at 30K miles, replaced them at 64K miles with plenty of tread left but worn on edges due to an alinement problem.
