urgent help with tensioners, please
#21
I did not ever find them new aside from the place that would sell them in bulk to a business. The $8 is in reference to Jegs or some place that was selling some connectors at $8, but not these exact ones.
The terminals have some friction to them, but the connectors are suppose to have a latch that holds them to the coils, those usually are the first things to break off. Another reason to replace them is that the connectors ARE sealed to keep moisture from corroding the connection.
In my case the connectors were so brittle they did just crumble apart, but the wiring was OK and I was able to strip them without a problem.
I understand some people may not have access to the new terminals, seals, and the proper crimping tool needed to swap over to the Yazaki connectors. Maybe your best bet is to find an X-type that is being parted out, if you only have 1 or 2 really bad connectors.
You can get two of these connectors from each car, and the ones on my X-type are in much better shape than the ones on the XK8 engine were, maybe because they stay cooler where they are located in the X-type. A V6 S-type might also have these connectors on the cam phasors, since it's the same V6 as the X-type.
