USB outlet ?
My 1993 Mazda MX5 Miata had a twenty year old radio/CD which did not work that well (CD did not work) so I replaced it with a cheap ($100.00) Sony radio/CD player which included a USB port. I ended up using this feature more than either the radio or the CD, as it was so convenient to access hundreds of tunes from such a tiny storage device. My newer Miata
(2003) has a wire and multi-pin connector coming out of the dash installed by a previous owner, for an MP3 or Ipod, I think, and I have not yet discovered if this can be adapted to a USB connection. My Jag's audio system works well in all functions, but it would be nice if I could add the USB, even if I lost the tape function, e.g., in order to accommodate it. Has anyone else added USB to a 1998 XK8 ?

I thought that I might repost this, as I did not receive any replies or suggestions. It won't matter while the car sleeps away the winter, but it would be nice to have a spring project leading to summer music.

Easiest approach that works well is to wire this to the antenna lead: TranzIt USB
It will be decent quality. Absolute best quality requires more extensive mods.

Sorry to miss it the first time around.
I'm not sure you will be able to add a USB port without changing the head unit but there are ways to get AUX inputs for music. I've tried several, most recently splicing into the CD changer audio (using an extension cable so it is reversible).
Which way will work best depends a bit on which audio system your car has, but it had all been done before.
There are a number of write ups in the DIY sticky thread to start from.

You can even use a simple cassette adapter if you would like. I'm still rocking the factory head unit since I haven't found one that doesn't scream aftermarket. I wouldn't mind if it looked aftermarket so long as it flowed well with the factory buttons and lights, and I haven't even found that.
