Dogs in cars remind me that when I met my ex, she had a white husky that was a shedding machine. He got in the back of my Camaro with a black interior and from that day I was never able to completely get the white hair out of the carpet. Now the car is gone, and so is she. I miss that car.
As for the younger generation and cars, I think that part of the "problem" has been the vast improvement in automobiles. You don't have to do as much to cars anymore and kids think that you don't have to do anything at all. That, and having us around to do way too much for them, has bred a generation of people ignorant to the responsibilities of car ownership. There is actually an ad on TV that explains that car insurance does not cover mechanical problems. Really? These kids are supposed to be smart (college educated) and they don't know the difference between insurance and a warranty?
I have little sympathy for the young people who complain that they will never be able to afford a home or a nice car, then pay someone to change their oil for them and get food delivered every day. And they drink more expensive beer than I do. They have expensive lifestyles, especially considering their incomes. No matter what they need, all they want to do is find the app on the phone. Order a pizza, buy football tickets, call AAA for a tow, whatever. There's an app for that. I've even heard of planning to have AAA change a battery on the side of the road as an acceptable alternative to buying a battery at a store. Sure, who has time to go to Pep Boys when there are video games to be played? And why check tire pressure if you have a warning light that tells you of a low tire? Wait until there is a problem to do something about it.. It's such a hassle and waste of time to maintain proper tire pressure. Again, there are video games to be played. I think I'll wait until my low fuel warning is on to look for a gas station and ignore my engine oil until the low oil pressure light comes on. Ah, maybe not.

Perhaps a single, side-facing rear seat would be the way to go, eg:1972 Aston Martin DBS V8 'Sotheby Special' (Ogle) - Studios
When a person does go in the back of my XK8, that is how they tend to sit anyway!
