I have to replace the valley hoses and will do the spider (octopus hose) as well. In doing my research there seems to be some confusion. My car is a 2000 XK8 , USA edition. Can anyone suggest a good guide for this project.
Get the manual, remove intake manifold to get the valley hoses and easier reach of the Octopus hose while you're in there. Since you'll be draining the cooling system, I'd recommend replacing the thermostat housing with a metal one while you're in there.
Also, may be time for a water pump while you're there as the old one with plastic impeller blades would disintegrate.
If you feel really up to it, and while it's torn apart, it may be time to pull the valve covers to see if your car has ever been changed to metal bodied tensioners. I took the "do it all at once approach" now to save time/money:
