Vee Mount Repair Instructions

Vee Mount Repair Instructions
So, I'm putting some new toys on my 2000 XK8 to upgrade handling... Summer Extreme Performance Tires ( Bridgestone Re-71r's) new front upper shock mount bushings, front control arm bushings, and have been told, that when looking to upgrade suspension / handling - It's a good idea to also replace the rear Vee Mount Bushings. I ordered the two from SNG Barratt...I'd like to install them myself...but don't see anywhere advice on HOW to install them. I've searched the user forums, stickies - and the Jag Repair Manual that can be downloaded. The Jag Part Number for the Bushing is MJA2595.
Any advice, links, diagrams etc - would be appreciated.
Thanks !

The bushings you are talking about require that you drop and remove the entire subframe. There are no instructions in the manual for removing the bushings from the frame assembly but they should not be difficult to remove once the sub frame is out of the vehicle.
The manual has all of the steps for removing the subframe including which bolts should be discarded and not reused.
So you realize you are talking about the entire rear end assembly. With it out it is a good time for clean, paint and repairs

You might consider installing the JTIS which will provide you with factory directions on various services, it's available in the stickie (top threads of forum). Also order a SNG catalog, while providing part numbers it also has good graphics of the car and parts.
Not sure who suggested the V bushings, but as Vern mentioned this isn't just a unbolt, swap operation. ALso there will be 'other' parts to replace while you are in there notably the rear shock upper bushing/pads which if deteriorated will affect tire profile, check your height from center of wheel cap to upper arch of fender it should be 15.5 " or so, many un updated cars will be 14.5-14.75 or so due to these parts wearing.
There are plenty of threads on dropping the rear end, it's not difficult but is a bit unwieldy and you need some proper tools and a good jack. Do some searches on rear end / differential to get a idea of what you are looking at.
Below is a pic of the bushing you mention (V) you will also note the bright yellow, these are the new rear shock top bushes.

The vee mounts are at the rear of the FRONT subframe.
In theory you can lower the subframe just enough to remove the vee mounts and replace them, without having to remove the whole thing.
However, the bolt through the vee mount to the engine is a torx (star) head on cars up to at least 2000, and is very liable to rounding (I speak from my own and others experience!), in which case you need to drop the whole front sub frame to get the bolt out, as it's in an awkward spot.

+1 for installing JTIS - it gives you all the steps you need and importantly all the torques to put it back together. Depending on your setup it may be easier to take all the wishbones off the sub frame and then lower it.
When/if reinstalling the lower wishbones, fit the way the JTIS tells you - from memory that's the rear part first - it makes life much easier.

Hi - I think there may be some confusion here - the original poster mentioned V mounts which are on the front subframe requiring removal of the subframe and support to the engine. The part number (MJA2595) is for the rubber and metal circular bushes to the rear subframe which supports the rear differential.
So - which end of the car is it?!
cheers
