Default Victory Edition Bluetooth help

Hi All,
Just joined this awesome forum. I've been on the sidelines for about four months since the purchase of my 2006 XK8 Convertible Victory Ed.. My question that I have is about the Bluetooth. All paired and works except nobody can hear me. Using iPhone 5 and works ok in my truck. It's like the mic is muted. I've read all the treads but no help. Is there a mute or reset you know of? I pulled mic out and seems fine. Looking for ideas....
Thanks,
Bob

Welcome to the forum Bob,

I had an 'Final Series' 4.2-S (the European equivalent spec to the US Victory Edition) before my current XK. It was a great car.

There's a limited number of phones which will work with Jaguar Bluetooth and iPhone5 is many years ahead in technology terms to a 2005 BT installation. Before you conclude there's an issue with the BT, it's worth trying pairing an older tech phone as a test if you have one available.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

My wife had the same problem in our 2005 S-Type way back in 2009. She could hear the other party just fine but no one could hear her. That's because the roof-mounted microphone had failed. They're cheaply made but probably not cheap to buy. Our microphone was replaced under the factory warranty still in effect at that time. Problem fixed....

Assuming that is the problem, the part number in grey is LNA7307AALFJ and in beige it is LNA7307AAAGD

Price could be worse as Jag parts go: MICROPHONE | Genuine Jaguar | LNA7307AALFJ or MICROPHONE | Genuine Jaguar | LNA7307AAAGD

Well guys, I could ohm out the mic I guess but not sure what it should read. I would think if I can pair my phone, make and receive calls it is compatible. They just can't hear me....
So NO mute or reset options? Maybe I can clip in a working mic and see if it makes a difference.

Could be a faulty microphone.

However, the same scenario has been reported several times across various model tech forums with this era Jaguar BT and later iPhones.

See the Jaguar Bluetooth Connectivity Centre for compatible phones:

Thanks Graham. The jag site only showed iphone4 but as I said my iPhone 5 connected but nobody can hear me. I gues I need to troubleshoot the mic.

Surely you know someone with a phone which is definitely compatible to prove if it is the mic or the phone as Graham suggested?

I've owned my Victory Edition since 2005 and I've had numerous phones paired with the factory BT including iPhones (4, 5s and now a 6), all operate fine. I'd investigate the microphone per the previous suggestions.

One unrelated issue about the iPhone you may want to be aware of, my 5s and 6 will at times auto switch the audio source. Not sure if it is just me and it's rare that it happens but it can be a bit frustrating. Simple fix, by re-selecting the audio source from the phone during the call but certainly defeats the "hands-free" dialing.

Hi Marc, Not sure what you mean by switching audio source on phone. My car only has 30k on it and previous owner never used BT so he says. Hate to buy a $75 mic for nothing.
Thought about unhooking battery and do a total reboot of system. I have radio security code.

If connected to the Jaguar's bluetooth your iPhone will have a screen icon for "audio source", it's usually where the "speaker" icon is. When you press it it will give you all the options including Jaguar, iPhone, and speaker.

Also, I've disconnected my battery and reset the car more times than I can remember. The only thing you'll need to do is reset the window memory, I've yet to have to reprogram the radio (I've even had the stereo cassette head unit out disconnected of the car).

Well I just got done testing the mic. Reads 7ohms. What ever that tells me. Took out the console to snoop around. Nothing. Rebooted the battery..nothing. I see what you were talking about Marc as far as the iPhone goes. Yes, when I switch from Jaguar back to iPhone I can be heard. I hear other party crystal clean. Hard to believe it's the mic but maybe. I'll shop around for best price.
