Vin identifier function?
#22
I've tried a few online VIN decoders again and found inconsistent results for my current and previous Jaguar. Some return the correct information but others return 'not found'.
You VIN is 'not found' except for one site returning it as a 2010MY.
VIN is assigned by Jaguar Land Rover following the parameters of the World Manufacturer scheme. The 'not found' is more a reflection on the quality of free OnLine VIN Decoders than anything to worry about. After all, Jaguar found your VIN immediately yesterday!

Oh dear.
Out of our four cars new enough to comply with the 17 character requirement, it got only one right. The one it actually got right had a warning from the website that it might be inaccurate.

Heh heh, as I mentioned earlier, there might as many as four different VIN protocols in use, all using 17 digits.
It's hard for me to imagine any freebie website taking the time to accommodate all cars and vin "languages". Think of the permutations!
Cheers

All four comply with all facets of the US-based system in place and standardized since 1981, not just the requirement for 17 characters. Two of the four cars were built in the US, by US big three OEMs. The one car that was the closest to being correct is a Japanese brand, built in Japan.
I dunno.
I dunno.
