Water ingress under driver side kick plates
Hi,
I've recently found that there's quite a lot of water coming in underneath the kick plates on the drivers side ( UK 1998 XK8 Coupe ).
Does anybody know where this water is likely to be coming from? I'm guessing there's a blocked drain, but that's a wild stab in the dark.
PS: I had brand new OEM door rubbers installed on both doors last year, if that makes any difference. Also I park facing up-hill, every night.

Hi mrobinson.
I've taken a couple of shots underneath the aforementioned covers. They're with my phone unfortunately so not the best in the world.
The first pic is of the driver's side (RHD), the second from the passenger's.
The drain tube attaches to the scuttle just behind the bonnet latch, and is held in place by a rubber strap that is part of the moulding. It's easier to see on the second picture. The straps can unhook or simply fail allowing the tube to drop off the scuttle drain. Amazingly, mine haven't yet perished <tempts fate>
The cavities underneath these covers also have a drain hole at the bottom. It's hard to see, and I'd got a bit carried away with the waxoyl and managed to bung both up. The resulting small lakes caused water to drip underneath the dash.
On a separate note, you mention kick plates, which I take to be at the bottom of the door aperture. My son has a Mk2 Golf that was giving a similar problem which we tracked down to failed seal on the plastic door liners. It wasn't at all obvious how the water was getting in until I fired the garden hose at the door. Amazing how much dripped off the back of the door trim and straight over the door seal on to the carpet, so it might be worth checking these. They don't always go back too well after being disturbed.
HTH,
Mike
