Default Water inside trunk

Hello all,
I have a 2003 XK8 and have the car parked with the rear end high, well it rained and was sunny the next day, so I decided to wash her up, after drying the car off, I lifted the trunk up and there was pooling water inside the trunk, upper portion of trunk where the trunk lid struts are, is this normal?? The carpet portion was dry, but I was somewhat alarmed at how much water was near the trunk lid struts, i checked all rubber and it is soft and undamaged
should I be concerned?

Thanks in advance

Rick

Same problem. Also found wet debris inside the corner where rocker panel and rear fender connect. Car is mostly covered but combo high winds and rain caused the problem.

Get a smoke bomb from the plumbers and set if off in the trunk ..that will find it.
Mine was rust on weld top RH corner also check under back seat ,,mine had 1 gallon water from a leaking rear window,
dont be afraid to pull the trim off around the rear window ..it goes back easy.

Figured out why this happens. When the vehicle is parked nose down at a steep enough angle, the water pools at the trunk seal in the areas at the rear screen. The water wicks up the seal where it is press fit over the metal seam of the scuttle. Remove, clean and seal it with something appropriate or park in the opposite direction.

Thanks for the explanation. I also park the car nose down on a sloped driveway. Wonder if other problems happen when reversing direction. Pouring rain here. Suppose I could experiment.

Is it at such a steep angle that he side channels in the boot area cannot drain to the rear ?
