Water pump replacement, mystery gasket

Water pump replacement, mystery gasket
When I removed my water pump, there was an o-ring and the remains of another gasket, plus the metal gasket. 2000 XK8.
My replacement pump did not come with any gaskets other than a new metal one. I discussed the parts I need with Gaudin, and they didn't suggest I needed any other parts.
My question is: do I need a new o-ring and the other gasket to install my new pump? Update: the old pump had a cutout for the o-ring, the new pump has no cutout so I think no o-ring needed.
JJTIS crashes on my Windows 7 VM so I can't look there.
Looked at this also, no mention of mystery gasket- could have just been sealant? https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...et-help-57123/
Thanks

The water pump on my 99 xk8 did not have the “O” ring when I removed it and the new one did not come with one.

I installed the pump with the supplied metal gasket, no o-ring, no leaks so far.
The OEM replacement pump I bought from Gaudin had white plastic impeller blades. The original pump had tan plastic impeller blades that were in good condition.
The new pump did not have the divit for the o-ring, so I think the newer replacement pumps do not use it. That means the JTIS manual is correct for pumps with the o-ring divit.
The bearings went bad on the original pump, as the pulley was very wobbly to the touch. With the bearings allowing this movement, the seal gets broken. Occasional low coolant light for about 10K before.
System took about 4 liters (10 total) to refill. Still expect to top up as air pockets get filled.
The lack of a real water temp gauge is a worry when testing, will look into the real gauge product.
Don't know how prone this design is to persistant air pockets.
Thanks to all that responded.

Before I installed the RealGauge I shot the engine temps with an IR gun after the new water pump was installed. First at idle, then after progressively more spirited driving. Stayed about 200 - 205. Concerned me a first, because I'm used to boats at 175-180, but a little research led me to believe this temp range is okay. I didn't have any issues bleading the cooling system; I pulled the little pin out of the thermostat, maybe that helped. Just idled with the reservoir tank cover open until she wouldn't burp and take any more fluid.

Water pump gasket: are there different versions?
