Default Water & window.

Hi all. Firstly, just driven my 2002 XK8 back home to Portugal. On leaving the docks at Santander the low coolant light came on, topped up the reservoir, all's well. 450 miles later at home light is back on & reservoir is low. Ideas as to where it's losing water? doesn't appear to be any showing under the car.
Seondly, the passenger window drops down to assist in opening the door BUT doesn't go back up when the door is closed, & each time the door is opened it drops the same amount.

best way to find the culprit for the coolant loss is a pressure test of the system. One possibility is a crack in the reservoir itself which won't show until the system heats up. Some of the hoses when they leak will drip onto the catalytic converters and evaporate so you won't have a puddle under the car

You can reset the window by sending it down, when its at the bottom keep holding the button down until you hear a faint click, then repeat this by sending it up.

Check you have a good battery as the window losing its memory is a poss sign of low voltage...

Did you make it from UK to Portugal? If so you are one of the few to escape this week.

I second the pressure test recommendation but time of year and location may make this difficult for you. However, overheat must be avoided as it's an engine killer.

The window drop phenomenon is often an early warning of a failing battery. I can't imagine it's not fully charged after a lengthy trip home.

Did that worked a treat & yes car had stood idle for several weeks & battery was very low. Drive back to Portugal topped it up nicely. 😊
Just the coolant loss to sort out now.

I had a leak at the water pump that was really hard to find.
