That may be the least costly initial investment on an XK8 on this forum. Congrats....

The valves typically bend or snap off from contact with the piston face. Were there no signs of piston damage on this engine?

Very cool. Heck of a deal (though a bunch of work) and great to see her back on the road in style.
But now - what will you do for a parts car?

You could see the carbon build up worn off the piston where it hit the valves, but amazingly there was no gouging into the piston like there was into the head and the piston was not cracked...got lucky I guess.

My guess is that head can be salvaged by a good machine shop.
