+1 on tops online. Call the owner Vic who can walk you through any part. I bought a top and seat leather for my 107. High quality at reasonable cost.

I looked at the web site and was impressed. Thank you. I don't know how difficult it is to change, but one of the installers listed, is in the next town. I have to use the old glass which is in excellent shape, has me thinking to have it installed. My top is in good shape just faded. I have been trying to find a company that makes a dye in tan, but no luck. The car is an everyday driver. I intend on getting it repainted so I want to dress up the top.
Thanks Again
Mitch

Go to a well-regarded auto interior & tops shop to inquire about a dye job for your existing top. If it is just faded and in good shape otherwise, that may be your best course of action....

Default Interior Mirror

Replaced the Donnelly interior mirror with a used Magna made Accura mirror. Hardest part for me was getting the light console off without breaking it.

Shaved the rub-strips both sides, using strong plastic trim lever (via eBay). Chem was MAF aerosol from CRC available everywhere. One can empty at the end...

Have you driven at night? Any better than the stock one? I actually miss having a day/night lever in my Xk8

Car is in storage for the winter so I haven't tested it yet.
It is the Magna version with the newer fluid.

Default IRS

My IRS on XKR 2000 has ran 330000km and on its last legs..(noises everywhere)
So I found a replacement with less operational experience😉 and have rebuild it.
Not much new parts were needed as it turned out to be in very good shape but little surface rust.
Now it is a confirmed good IRS and I can swop it into my car to cure the dreadfull noises.
Thats what I worked on😁.

I hexed my 01 XKR, since I changed the oil to Mobil 1, I smell the stench of burning oil. I put about 1000 miles on the oil that was in when it delivered, changed to Mobil 1, had the stench since about fifty miles in. Now I've got the scent of antifreeze with no fluid level change. Just need to get a couple client cars gone so I can get it inside and work on it.

Ekskaar, hope you are going to change the U joints and check out the wheel bearings, they make a terrible grinding noise when they go bad.
What a great looking replacement, well done.

Default I don't understand how it was running?!

Been working on my new to me 02 XJR. Misfires across the entire right bank, flashing Check Engine, Codes 300 -304, it feels like this was a disaster purchase...

Decide to pull the plugs and check for fouling and found this

The other three plugs were smashed completely flat with the insulators broken?!? I have compared the depth to the new plugs and they are the same. I scoped the pistons and there is no sign of contact so I have to believe that someone did this intentionally?

8 new plugs later and things are improving dramatically but I still can't understand how it was even running??

Default Right tensioners, same as mine before

Just a guess here. More sage 'tensioner pros' need contribute adding their experience.

Prior to my custodianship, my 01 experienced mild tensioner failure at 51k. Right bank only. Repairs were over 9300 all tolled.(have the receipts) That is one way all four plugs can collapse. What that means for you, I've not a clue!

With ALL oil leaks (our valve covers particularly 'offensive' in this regard) there will be the initial stench, when achieving critical flow rate. Evidences as being a 'burning' migrating into the cabin. Replace valve cover gaskets and sensor gaskets. Cured mine! They were replaced at 54k, then many years later at 65k needed again.

The prior owner decided to sell; I decided to fit new 'blue' gaskets from eBay. Carefully fitted.

Failing gaskets are like bankruptcy: imperceptibly at first...then all at once.

Post cooling reservoir

Hi, I had a leak on my 2005 Jag XK8 coolant reservoir and heater hose. I had them replaced. However, it seems like a hose is missing on one outlet on the reservoir. Please see attached (I'm sorry having trouble uploading photo). I can figure out if there was one or not or if its needs one. Can someone send me a photo so I can see how it should look like. Thank you

I pushed the lower ball joints for the front suspension. I made up an 'adaptor' from a piece of old steel scaffold pole to fit the angles of the lower control arm. One for each side as the profiles are mirrored

and a jig from some square section 5mm steel tubing. Mostly copied from Davebc's design.

Why on earth Jaguar couldn't have allowed for a flat on the arm forging is anyone's guess. It is the same part for both sides, just machined as appropriate. A couple of extra ounces of unsprung weight surely wouldn't hurt.

Now just waiting for the bush special tools that have been held up by Brexit/Covid/Xmas/Murphy since mid-December

I sure like that Michael.
One question, when do you produce the kit???
Any way to show the angle that needs to be cut. Thanks for the idea for sure, now we know where to start.
