Default What hose is this?

What hose is this beneath the air intake box? What is the part number? How do I replace it or stop the leak?

It is leaking oil (looks like motor oil?) onto my sway bar and control arm bushings thereby completely desintegrating them.

Also, I was advised to ask the forum about using 5W-50 oil vs the 10W-40 oil I'm using. Is that a good idea?

Looks like the "quick disconnect" fitting on the power steering return hose. You need an inexpensive air conditioning tool to slide over the line and unlock it. Mine leaked, and after much research here I replaced with a barbed fitting and hose clamps as the expensive factory replacement hose comes with the same low quality disconnect you have now................

That sounds good... Could you show me a picture of the new fitting? I'm not getting much of an idea of what the barbed fitting looks like. .

MettleAir 129-5-1 PK 5/16" ID Hose Barb Mender/Splicer/Joiner/Union Fitting Brass Tubing Hose Adapter/Coupler: Garden Hose Parts: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific MettleAir 129-5-1 PK 5/16" ID Hose Barb Mender/Splicer/Joiner/Union Fitting Brass Tubing Hose Adapter/Coupler: Garden Hose Parts: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

Available at any automotive parts store. You will need the tool to un latch the current fitting. You will slide a short piece of new hose over the steel line. Cut off the Jaguar hose just past the leaking connector. Insert barbed fitting into return hose and your new short hose. Use worm drive hose clamps to secure everything. (measure the o.d. of the steel line and the i.d. of the Jaguar return hose to determine what barbed fitting to buy) Also get a liter of Dextron III to top off your power steering.

You don't need to special tool to disconnect if you are going to do this barbed brass fitting and generic hose retrofit. Just cut the ends off with a small saw. I used a very small hacksaw for the rubber hose end, and I think I may have used a plumbers pipe cutter, the really small type, for the non-rubber end.

This seems like an easy enough fix! I'll get to work on it.

I think 3/8. Check out here, and within this post is another link to a forum members album with good pics.

Could anyone show me a picture of the quick disconnect tool I have to use? Cutting the non rubber part is not feasible to me.

Never mind, I bought a random one of the correct size and then I just fixed the hose. Pretty easy if you have the right $5 tool.
