What's the consensus on 'cheap' brake discs/rotors?
The OE Brembo discs on my XKR are MEGA expensive to replace (about $3000, I believe). This seemingly reputable supplier in the UK is offering aftermarket equivalents at less than 1/10th the price.
Tempting.
What do you think? Am I asking for trouble?

I also had a sharp intake of breath when they told me how much OE Brembo replacements cost and fitted these same 'cheap' ones on the front of mine last month before doing just over 4000 miles to Gibraltar and back.
Took the wheels off to inspect them at the weekend and no wear problems so far. I have got a slight squeak on the RH front but expect a bleed will rectify this as the pads definitely aren't sticking on the pins.

Similar experience to MarcB, forgot to paint the hubs before installing them the first time so ended up cleaning and painting them later.
I did also have that balance problem, but even with having the rotors balanced, they were still WAY less expensive than the OEM Brembos, so all around, happy with the aftermarket choice.

I purchased from R1 concepts, specifically their Eline (cheaper, lower carbon steel) zinc plated, drilled, slotted set of four for my XK8. I paid a bit over $300 together with PosiQuiet ceramic pads supplied with the kit. Important to mention is that R1 does the chamfered drilled method which prevents cracking and pad wear. They've performance series (hi carbon) as well for a bit more, but nowhere close to Brembo high.
I put it all on myself and I must tell you what a pleasant surprise. Brakes work great, not a slight vibration. Btw, R1 Concepts is highly rated amongst rice burners, which attests to their ability to withstand some serious abuse.
I ride on my almost three months and they're a cherry . Below is the pic on my JagX. Btw, you could by them directly from R1 even on eBay with pads (the performance series seems to go for around $500 as listed for all around hi carbon steel set for XKR ).
Finally, R1 seems to be praised for their great customer service and warranty.

I'm in the UK and needed new discs/pads for my 2003 XKR last year. Mine has the non drilled type. Now after 90,000 miles I think the car was still on its original Brembo discs, but I could not justify paying ££££ for new Brembo discs. I ordered aftermarket discs from a UK supplier for around £60 per disc, plus new pads. After 10,000 miles they are all fine, very little wear, good balance and fitted straight on.
Cheers,
Rich

Two weeks ago I handed my car to a garage for front disc lathe job, due to unevenness. The car had aftermarket discs on. The guy called me and said they had ****ed something up with the lathe, and that one disc was ruined. They ordered replacement Brembo discs. In the end, I got new Brembos for 150 bucks. Not bad
