Just saw the episode. The carbon cleaning unit used is from Terraclean, and seems to be arround for a long period, at least when I searched for it I saw this post:
Solution to the carbon build up - Terraclean? - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

Its a long post but was interesting as someone from Terraclean stepped in, and was challanged. They where going to prove with borescope pictures the results, but that never happened (for whatever reason).

My first post about carbon cleaning was not just meant funny, but there is a lot of truth in it as water/steam does clean very nicely. Anyone with a water/meth kit will have a very clean engine. I even bought a kit for our diesel as that one has an EGR, and this is the only way I see to keep the full system as clean as possible.

Not sure how much better the terraclean works compared to others like from Snap-on, or products like sea foam, as I have no experience with these.

Hey Rev

I am sure if you had a car lift in your garage like Ed on Wheeler Dealers, it would have made the job a lot easier. When I was your age about 30 years ago I was doing the same things on my cars. I have to get my 50 year old son to help me know. The last job we did on my XK8 was clean the rear ABS sensors. He took off the tires and I cleaned the sensors, but I could not find him to put the tires back on so I had to do them myself. He finally showed up after I installed the tires. What a kid huh.

I did the antenna up/down switch, rear 1/4 window switch, Sirius radio install, airbag seat contact repair and headrest cables on my 03 XKR by myself. It made the jobs a lot easier watching your videos, and I saved a ton of money doing it myself.

I still have my 01 XK8 for sale, it only has 45k on it and is in really nice shape. I think you would enjoy driving and working on it it as much as I have.LOL

Just watched the wheel dealers episode on the XK8 ...........was disappointed not to see Niks car as I kept expecting it to pop up and it didn't..........such a shame.

It was a bit of a tart up as previously said and I was surprised they weren't doing the tensioners?
It looked ok at the end up but again as others have said the wheels needed a refurb and there was an almighty scratch on the rear bumper.................didn't stop me from entering the competition though...lol

For the forseeable future it may be the only way I'm likely to join the XK fraternity

Thanks Bass! I was wondering if I'd ever get to watch it. I'm dying to see this giant scratch everyone keeps speaking of.

Hi Guys
Yes , I'm Gutted and upset :smt013
I haven't got to the bottom of why they didn't show my car !!!!
but why did they spend a fortune on getting me down there for a days filming and not use any of it :?:
I had to reschedule a total of three and a half days works due to the cancellation of filming due to bad weather
Must have cost them a fortune for the full crew for a day ;
I'm trying to get hold of the Production Manager Matt Rangecroft at Attaboy TV for an explanation :smt024 he hasn't replied to my email sent Sunday reminding him about the rushes , of course I didn't know about the absence of my car then
They have promised me a copy of the rushes which I'd dearly like , it would make up a little for the inconvenience :|,
the footage I saw from the camera car was amazing and very difficult to replicate without expensive equipment

All the best ,

Nik

Were you able to keep the toady one from slapping and knocking on your paint and body? I see him immediately do that to every car when it's finished. He's one of those incredibly annoying dolts that just can't keep his hands off anything...or even the "buyers" and sellers.

In a word yes , I'd already rehearsed my chat , "don't sit or lean on my paintwork and if you light up my rear tyres you owe me £250 a piece"
Thankfully he wasn't on set and the professional driver , Simon , was a real gent and a fine driver

After filming they let me take my XK around Longcross for a few laps while the McLaren boys were having a tea break , Longcross is McLarens official test track ,

All the best ,

Nik

I've reuploaded it for you guys. It's unlisted and can't be found from a search as well as having a somewhat obscure name, so hopefully it won't get taken down. Enjoy, but keep it a bit of a secret If it isn't working, it is because it hasn't fully uploaded yet.

I really like the engine cleaner. If "Toady" would stop chattering and let Ed explain things himself this show would be 100% better. Only a moron takes a car just prepped for SELLING and flogs it for fun. I couldn't really see the new ricer exhaust tips to tell if they were overdone or not, but knowing Toady, they probably are.

Exclamation

Just as a bit of additional info, regarding the Terraclean carbon cleaning system, please be aware that the presenter Edd China works with/for Randstad/Terraclean. So he is on the payroll!!!

I can't believe that his integrity could be swayed by cash.

I see there is quite a debate on the pros and cons on the UK forum with more than one thread running.

The main moderator (BuckMR2) of the UK site seems to be a little tooooo keen on promoting it for my liking. Even to the point of using the forum name to endorse it on the Randstad/Terraclean website. Even though he has only used it on his diesel XJ.

I have given up on the UK site, much better here, there seem to be more active UK members than the UK site anyway, and excellent gen ,

I watched this episode and expected a lot of it. Unfortunately it wasn't like any other wheeler dealers episode.
They didn't seem to have handled any of the flaws of the xk's.

However still a nice car, hope the person that won it is happy with it.

Default Wheeler Dealers XK8 Segment

Wrote to the show asking why they didn't mention common areas like the tensioners and waterpump, etc and was given this advice.

"For specific car advise please contact Edd at http://www.greasejunkie.com/"
