Looks delightful. I'm very jealous!

Was the XK8 that clean when you arrived or did you wash it for the pic?

I cleaned it before we left and it was still that clean when we arrived.

Default 1000 Miles

Just a quick trip: Down East Maine with stops in Bar Harbor for the 4th. Then headed down the coast to Camden and Rockport. The Jag ran like a champ never giving us any issues. Top down for 4 days in 90+ heat. Man I love this car!

Default where is eieio?

Spent the past week cruising around Oregon. 100 degree heat in Medford, and just plain hot everywhere else. Beautiful scenery everywhere!
Here is a pic at Crater Lake and one from on the road. We also drove on historic hwy 30 along the Columbia river, what a great drive!
No problems at all on my first long adventure. 27 miles per gallon on the freeway, and didn't need to add oil during the nearly 1400 mile trip.

Beautiful.

Is that the road heading off in a dead straight line right up to the horizon?

Thanks to fellow forum member XJsc-guy, my wife will soon have her own Jag. He let me know the shipper picked up the 1998 XK8 and it is on the way!

Howdy Folks:
My wife called after leaving work this PM inquiring about supper. She was game to go to Spartanburg SC to the Beacon Drive In Restaurant. So a 50+ mile trip down there for a couple of chili cheeseburgers. Then headed back home avoiding the Interstate listening to Sirius 50's on 5. Ah the simple pleasures and only because of the latitude shift of the topdown Cat.

Graham,
I am shamed. It is not like I do not know better. Here is a token offering of my pictures of such foods, places and of course the presence of my topdown Cat. (pic names define where photos were taken)
I promise photos of the Beacon next time.
Please accept my apology.

Yes, Beacon sweet tea. When at the Beacon I suggest that you drink their tea. It is a different animal. I would probably refuse mass lemon flavor tainting anywhere else. Instead, I would opt for glass bottle (cane sugar sweetened- no corn syrup) Sun Drop. (FYI for those that do not know, one glass bottle goes for about the same price as a six pack of regular aluminum cans)
In fact, my wife brought us a couple tonight.
Here is a recent pic of her, and her Sun Drop at Murrells Inlet SC.

Up in Napa Valley at our favorite winery, Chimney Rock. Outstanding Cabs and a nice dog friendly patio. Followed a DB9 on the way. Boy, did it ever have a sweet exhaust note.

Drove our 2004 XKR on a Labor day weekend trip to San Francisco from LA via the coast. Took the 5 through the Grapevine and then cut over to the coast on 46 to spend the night in San Simeon on Friday night.

Driving at night with the top down was wonderful. We had left 100 degree weather in LA and now it was in the 60's. When the sun set the milky was visible overhead.

The next morning we drove up the coast through Big Sur to SF. Monday we drove fast and straight down the 5 to home. A great trip.

Now I have a comment to make. I have spent much time reading this forum, both before and after buying my Jag. I've only owned the car a few months and this is the first long trip we took in it. Since most of us only post when we have a problem with the car, it can make one think there will always be a problem. I was worried before setting off and for a while after that, but the car performed flawlessly! It handled driving in traffic for the long uphill climb of the Grapevine in very hot weather, it handled a long, hot drive home without much time to rest, and of course it handled the twisty Pacific Coast Highway in a sporting fashion. I love this car!

Sounds like a nice trip Datru.

You need to try again with the pictures.

I'm also glad to hear that you had an enjoyable, carefree trip. While in San Simeon, did you tour the Hearst Castle?

Not this trip, though we have twice in the past. As a fan of the movie "Citizen Kane", it was quite a thing to see!
