The Limousin is a largely unexplored treasure house of amazing places.

Just noticed a typo in my post

Left Memphis on Sunday morning last week to head to Tuscaloosa, AL where my daughter was finishing a cheer camp at the Univ of Alabama (she cheers for Univ of Memphis). From there we took back roads to Montgomery on our way to Ft. Myers, FL where we vacation every July.

Left this morning to go to Miami to visit relatives. We took Hwy 41 through the Everglades. I'll be giving my daughter the tour of Miami for a few days before we head back to Memphis. The top has been down for much of the trip, and the car has been nothing but a joy to drive.

Drove out to Texas Motor Speedway to give my daughter her birthday present. That's her in the red 599 about to start some laps.

Sorry my Jag is not in the picture. They wouldn't let me on the track with it.

Not allowed on the track - the miserable b******s!

Just to clear this up before my son gets any wild ideas about birthday presents. You gave her a drive in the 599 - she didn't get to keep it?

I bet he has his eyes on your XK8, for when you get around to changing it!

"Don't bother with the Part Ex. Dad, I'll look after it for you! Oh and by the way can you pay the insurance for me!"

I see you're a fellow sufferer from bringing up children with aspirations above their pay grade.

Yeah, she just got to drive the Ferrari, not keep it.

But she did better than one lady who forgot her left from her right and smacked a brand new (still had paper tags on) Lambo into the concrete barricades. Concrete 1, Lambo 0. They had to tow it off the track. The insurance we bought only covered the first $100k of damage, so I hope she has some good supplementals.

Thank you for confirming it was drive only - son is now sulking in the corner.

As for the Lambo - - $100k will about cover the repair assessment!

I went for a jaunt in my trusty Kia today and visited the grave of Mrs Berrymans mule.

Then I went to see the Georgia Guide Stones (worth a google) A bit like Stonhenge but newer.

I had planned on going to the centre of the world also but couldn't find it. Maybe another time.

To add a bit of Jag content I came accross these two sad old girls at the side of the road.

Why not? No roll bar? Missing safety equipment?

Guess they thought I was kidding. Plus if they let me on the track with the Jag, all those Corvettes in the parking lot would have wanted on too.

Default Saguaro National Park

I took Mom for a ride in Jagger through the Saguaro National Park in Tucson, Arizona, on Sunday. It's a beautiful 8 mile drive through rolling foothills of cactus, wildlife, and cool looking rock formations with ancient native American rock drawings. I had put the top up prior to the photo being taken. The temperature was getting to be over 100 F and it was time for some air conditioning. =)

The XKR looks amazing for over 137K miles.

100F and minimum humidity doesn't appear to be bothering you!

Good to see some pictures, keep it up!

Graham, it's a dry heat, or so they tell me, I can break a sweat shovelling snow, so for me it's just F&*$#*& hot!

Saturday: up to Foresthill (CA) for my nephew's wedding, then back down the winding 2-laner through old Auburn and to Folsom Lake/Granite Bay. Beautiful, cool night. I'm trying to decide whether to go back to Las Vegas via Death Valley (at night) or over to Monterey and down Hiway 1, then back across the desert. Done both before, but need new tires if I want to have real fun.

I'll be driving it to our British car clubs 25th annual car show, Sunday in the Village of East Davenport, Iowa. I'll post some pictures next week.

Default Visit to Chateau Bouesse

Very pleasant overnight stay here

Near Chopin/Georges Sands stamping ground

A huge room in the 13th Century Chateau = €100.

Steve,

Checked their website. Looks a nice place.

I'll give them time to restock the bar before visiting.

The wine list was ridiculous.
I don't mind a x3 or even x5 markup on Carrefour price but this was x10
Many years ago we learnt to take a bottle of Champagne, cool blocks and glasses and prime the pumps before hitting the Restaurant.
This said we passed a pleasant evening in the slightly faded Art Deco hotel at Evaux-les-Bains a couple of weeks ago

- not only was the restaurant superb, food and service excellent but the most expensive wine on the list was €17 !!
Slept well.....
