Are you going to try one of those replacement tps from eBay? I would try measuring the resistance at zero throttle before removing the old one and then use that figure to help get the new one in the right position when you install it.

Yes, I'm going to go for one of the new aftermarket ones. Strikes me that a used OEM TPS is just as likely to fail.

EDIT: just bought one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2718594973...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Got it for £90 + p&p from HK. No import or customs fees to UK unlike from US

Yes, a second hand one might even already be on its way out.

Let us know how you get on.

Just had an opportunity to get a really good look at TPS and connectors.
I actually have the later gold pin connectors on the TPS loom which is good. But noticed that there was a small crack in the antibackout plastic next to connector 3 which might have been allowing the pin to make a poor contact intermittently. It looked like previous owner had tightened up the female connectors and split it. Simple repair with a little plastic repair epoxy - cleaned the connectors with Deoxit and did a hard reset. Now running like a charm. Feels like it's in sport mode when it isn't. Anyway, only time will tell but I'm ordering an new TPS anyway just in case.

BTW - where about in Spain are you? We have a house in Benaojan (just outside Ronda in Andalusia) - off there on Sunday. I'd love to take the Jag over for a run on the coastal highway (mind you I think I'd want a left hand drive).

That will be a nice fix if that is all it is. Even having to spend £90 on a new tps is a lot better than a new throttle body from Jaguar and just shows these cars can be maintained cheaply if you avoid the main dealers.

We are further up the coast from the Ronda end, close to the border with Granada province. The coastal road here is spectacular, well worth driving along, even in a RHD car.
