Who has Powerfold Mirrors?
I have had quite a few requests for TheJagWrangler Convertible Remote Top Controller and Coupe Remote Window Controller to also control the Powerfold mirror option.
Back when I designed the units, I did not even know Powerfold mirrors were an option!
I am nearing the time to reorder the the circuit boards, so I thought I would add this feature before I make any more.
Just wondering, who has Powerfold mirrors?

I have a non-US spec Coupe with Powerfold (added to the Poll). My last non-US spec 2001 Coupe didn't have Powerfold.
Never use the fold function. If some idiot want's to get that close to my parked car, I'd prefer they only got close enough to hit the mirror and not the side.
The Powerfold option when coupled with the memory has an additional function - Passenger Door Mirror dipping.
To give the driver a clear view of the kerb when reversing, the passenger door mirror can be dipped without erasing the memory setting. The mirror dips by 7 degrees and further movement of the toggle switch dips it in 7 degree increments. When reverse gear is deselected, the mirror returns to the memory position.

Hi
I would like to add powerfold mirrors to our 2001 XJ8. The side mirrors stick out more than the ones of our 1990 Acura Legend. This causes some difficulty when we are taking the Jaguar out of the garage.
The garage has a double wide overhead door & opening.
When the Acura is in the garage and we have to be careful not to hit the side of the garage door opening with the mirror on the XJ8 passenger side (moving the Jaguar out of the garage).
I have not had any luck finding any powerfold mirrors to purchase.

I believe the option was available on all U.S. spec cars after the "face lift" (2005-06 model years), and it was a standard feature on All Victory Editions. In regards to the reverse dip; I think that was standard on all U.S. cars as my 99 XK8 had it too.

Hi
Internet search on Jaguar XJ powerfold, turned up a website (www.thedrivenman.com) that are selling them as a pair for $600.
Site says 1998-2003 XJ8/R Power Fold Mirrors. Kit includes necessary relay.
I called them and they will be emailing me more detailed information (such as manufacturer and what is included in kit.
They are located in Tenn (USA).

In Europe, there is no requirement for flat glass on the driver side, so it may be convex/aspherical on both sides.
As you know, there is no need to repaint because you can use your existing mirror covers. If you get chrome ones, you could always sell the chrome covers to someone who covets the chrome covers

- Put it in reverse
- Pull back on the mirror adjuster joy stick - you don't need to switch to the passenger side
- one bump = 7 deg down, two bumps = 14 deg down
- When you put it in Drive or Park the mirror returns to where it started.

How should it work?
For those who have the option, which would be your preferred mirror unfolding/folding automatic trigger?
1. Ignition on/off ?
2. Door lock/unlock ?
3. A two button sequence with the remote...the same way the remote top conroller and remote window controller works ?
4. None...I like the manual control.

The 'drive away' door locking option is usually activated by default for UK vehicles but can be disabled by the Dealer.
All other markets don't necessarily have this option...............?

So if we triggered the mirrors to fold/unfold along with any lock/unlock operation as long as the ignition is off it seems that might work pretty well. That would include remote operation with the key fob.
Lock/unlock operations with the ignition on would not affect the mirror.
If you wanted to manually lock your door while in the car before driving away, you would just do it with the ignition on to avoid folding the mirrors unintentionally.
