window won't remember top
Hi,
Both my doors in my '98 XK8 coupe occasionally ( seemingly randomly ) forget the top position and have to be reset.
Sometimes they hold for weeks. Sometimes it's the same day.
This has been going on for years and I've had at least one new battery in that time. It does seem to have been worse recently ( UK winter, cold-ish starts ? ) but I'm not certain.
Is there anything else I could check? Perhaps something that's causing more load to be put on the battery during cranking perhaps?

I you are experiencing this issue even with a new battery, it means there is a voltage drop somewhere under high current. Start by doing a good cleaning of the clamps and battery posts. Follow the battery wires in the trunk to the nearby power block and double check it is tight and free of corrosion. Then go to the engine compartment and double check the power connections to all the fuse boxes (tight and clean). Also, see if you can measure the battery voltage at various points in the system when you crank. Start at the battery to establish a baseline, then move on to the engine compartment fuse boxes and work your way back if there is a significant drop.
Check the ground strap off the engine/transmission for any sign of resistance.
Also, would not hurt to check the water level in the various cells if this is a conventional acid-lead battery.
Best of luck, keep us posted.

I fixed my issue with my driver window not wanting to go back up when the door was shut roughly 90% of the time.
I took the door wiring connector off at the door jamb, sprayed some electrical cleaner into the male and female ends of the plug and stuck it back together, it has worked perfect for me since.
It is at least worth a try.

Window Memory
I recently was having similar window memory problems and found that the battery was failing (only 11 years old!). The new battery seems to have taken care of the issue but will also try the suggestion of spraying the door connections as a preventive measure. This function does seem sensitive to battery voltage.
