Default Is it worth the time and effort to.........

I have a new to me 2005 XK8. I will be transferirng some parts from my 2000 XK8 to the newer one and selling other parts. Here's my question. About 7 years ago I replaced most of the convertible top system. All the lines to the rams and latch, and, rams redone by Top Hydraulics. I will be removing the lines and rams from the 2000 XK8. The top on the 2005 works perfectly. Should I transfer the lines and rams to the 2005? It would be a lot of work but I'm not sure if by 05 the lines were not prone to leaking.

To reuse an old cliche, don't fix it if it ain't broke.

As someone who has also done the DIY line replacement I would save the lines and rams for the time when/if they are needed.

I had to replace the latch lines on my 06 and the others are shedding the outer black cover, so they will probably need to be replaced soon. So I would hold on to them.

Thanks for the responses. It makes sense to keep everything for future use. I guess the only reason I was thinking of making the transfer now was that I had to take some of the interior apart on the 05. The electric seats don't work so those have been removed. Also, I will be installing the blue tooth module and wiring that was taken out of the 2000, so that requires the rear seats to come out to run the lines from the trunk CD unit.

The rams and their lines would not be too difficult, but the weakest part of the system is the latch lines, and that requires a lot more work. If you expect to keep the car I suppose it would be worth the effort but I would just wait.

I hope to keep the car, but waiting is very inviting It would be a lot or work, although, I have to remove a lot of the interior to install the Realgauge and blue tooth module and wires.
