Hi some photos I have of my first car that I bought 8 years ago (still have it). Its an 1997 xk8 but it have som xkr parts and a bodykitt from Arden and the rims are BBS RXII
It looks like you are doing a fantastic job, but I’m wondering why you are doing it outdoors?
as I always do in my restoration project I repair rust holes and dents, I smooth the bodywork in my garage.
Then in the garden I spray the primer, then back in the garage to smooth again and again.
Finally the car goes to the auto body shop for final spraying.
I do not have the equipmet to do perfectly this last job.

Great observation. I painted three cars outdoors back in the day when I did not have a garage. One came out nice. One had tiny insects that were not detectable to the eye until they landed on wet paint. One looked great but overnight there was a hard frost, giving the car an interesting velvet matte appearance. When I finally established an indoor location I discovered the value of good ventilation and N95 respirators. The plan to use a professional shop for the final spraying has high merit.

yes insects, dust, night frost. these are the factors that force me to resort to the professional for the final painting since I don't have a spray booth. Despite this, if it is small pieces, like a bumper, I work independently. An entire car no, unsatisfactory result. Of course I would like to avoid paying the professional ... we will equip ourselves for this too!
Over the years I have restored many vehicles. I did all the body and prep work in the garage. When it came to painting I would move it out to a "portable" style garage. and paint it there. It helped keep the dust and bugs away. Painting it in the garage wasn't going to happen, due to the overspray.

I also thought about this portable garage solution. it is likely that I will put it into practice for the next works
After seeing the great threads for the XF and F type, I thought we needed a similar one to just post your pics on! Before, during, or after mods, painting, or just plain great pics of your cars!! It's would also be fun to see a few with the proud parents of our cars in the pics too!! Anything interesting with your car in the pic!
