philhef; What an absolutely beautiful car. Fantastic job. Drive it good health.
I also love the wheels. I have a '99 XK8 convert and want to put new wheels on it. any suggestion as to look. Since it's a'99 can't find any company's that go back that far
that are priced reasonably.
Thanks

rsdmitch7,
If I had a 99 XK8 Convertible, I would like to have a set of Double/Fives on it! What Wheels do you have now?
If I was looking for a set of Wheels for a 99 XK8....I would go to some place like: https://www.nationwideautorecycling....arts/makes/and click on Jaguar...They are not far from you and have good quality stuff, as s they deal with alot of XKR & XK8's.....Get 2 or 3 of these Re-cycling places on your list and start looking. You never know what you might come up with>>>> Remember! you can Sand and Paint most of these Wheels and make them look like new! If you buy them refurbished, they will cost your Butt a bunch! At "Nationwide" you can sign-up and get in line for the Wheel of your choice....Sign-up and get in line....If it's bent a little, you can take it to a Wheel Guy and fix it up....Be sure you know what size and if the Wheel is a Staggered set or not....Could take you a little while but there are a lot of Wheels out there....!

My XKR100. 1999. owned for 6 years. Driven 5,000 miles Work done in 6 years :- Top and bottom tensioners, guides and chains. Transmission new filter and fluid. New fuel pumps. New rear discs and hand brake hubs. Rear silencers removed and stainless strait through pipes fitted with twin tail pipes. All belts replaced. Convertible hood hoses replaced. All suspension bushes replaced. Thermostat housing and water pump replaced. Probably cost me as much to sort as it did to buy. Love it.

jagophile; I replaced ball joints, tie rod ends, shocks, spring seats, sway bar bushings & links, upper and lower wishbone bushings, put urethane dampers in, etc. Everything that could wear out I replaced. New tires. It's time consuming, but if you have patience the car is not a beast to work on. I bought most everything on ebay. Parts cost under $800. The car rides and handles like it's brand new. I'm 74 and people might say I'm crazy to put so much into the car, but I love the body style as opposed to the new ones. It's got 97,000 on it and runs beautiful. I drive it everyday weather permitting. Even in the winter if the roads are clear.
Good luck with your up coming project.

Mitch: Thank you for your insights. I'm glad you mention Ebay sources. Anyone know why there is a huge variance in the cost of the hydraulic lines for the convertible tops? Of course I mean new, not used or OEM for this job. Will the 1996 hose fit a 2004?

jagophile; For this job I would get as much info on hoses from members that have had this problem (and there are many) and had success with what they purchased. Just because the cost may be low for one and high for another doesn't mean one is not good verses the other. This is a job you want to try and do only once. The hoses in my car had been replaced before I bought it. I'm sure other members can head you in the right direction. If there was one thing that Jaguar should have permanently fixed, it is the hoses. For the price you pay for these cars and the length of time this problem has persisted. SHAME ON JAGUAR.
Best of luck
Mitch
