Default A bit of vinyl wrap here and there...

This is more of an experiment and being different to others...a personal touch I suppose!
I know the purist will hate it, I applied wrap to the exterior edge of the wheels only...I was going to fill the spaces but haven't got around to it yet.
Thoughts please....this will be interesting!

2004.5 model. Changes from original include: Clear lenses, large central muffler replaced with an X-pipe (a bit more throaty than standard).Vinyl wrap wheels and bonnet.

Trevor,

In my opinion, I kind'a like the Hood but I can't see enough of the Wheels to make a judgement....Sorry! Although, when I looked down at the Photo at the bottom, I quickly was able to make a decision......I would maybe try something else as it is a Beautiful XKR as it is. I do like the Clear Side Marker Lights along with the Clear Blinkers Lens...Those worked out great!

Trevor, there isn't much more one can do to a Silver XKR Coupe....I'm glad you used Vinyl Wrap, rather than Paint.....Now you can take it off without much trouble....Good Thinking!

Hi Billy
Thanks for commenting, I think I'll remove the wheel vinyl shortly in fact.
Here's a slightly flatter angle to check the wrap on the wheels better however. Side mirrors are back to normal now too as in prior image.

No doubting it's quality work but I agree with the conclusion you have now reached on the wheels. I also think the front right needs some air.

I'm thinking that maybe gloss black vinyl would have suited the car better than matte black. Your car is a twin of mine, a silver 04' XKR coupe with a black interior. Beautiful car!

Not sure about other’s reactions but I sort of like the bonnet treatment.

Default 2005 XKR Cleans Up Nicely

Some photos of my 2005 XKR after its recent cleaning.

I had previously used Leather Clinic products to clean and restore the two front seats to the factory “Cashmere” (SDZ) color. I also recently purchased and installed new floor mats with the Jaguar logo (not visible in photo) and a walnut and leather steering wheel from SNG Barratt.

To clean the exterior, I started by spraying on zymöl Concentrated Auto Wash using a “foam cannon” hose attachment, then rinsing, and drying with microfiber towels. I then gave the surface a clay bar treatment, followed by Griot’s Garage Complete Compound using a random orbital applicator. I washed, rinsed, and dried the car again to ensure that I had removed all compound. I then used zymöl HD-Cleanse to prepare the surface for waxing, washed the car one final time, and finished with a coat of zymöl Jaguar Glaze.

I cleaned the BBS Detroit wheels with Iron-X and waxed them with zymöl Jaguar Glaze. Finally, I sprayed the tires with Cover All Tire Shine.

I have disabled my power antenna and instead use my iPhone for hands-free phone calls, streaming music and radio, and navigation. (The phone’s screen is mirrored on the dashboard video screen and all audio is played through the Alpine amplifier and speakers.) My installation is described here:https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ay-how-200834/

The “shark fin” antenna on the car’s roof receives and transmits cellular phone signals, which are routed through a SureCall Fusion2Go 3.0 booster mounted behind the rear seat and transceived to/from the iPhone using an antenna mounted underneath the J-gate surround.

Thumbs up

Stunning, Absolutely Beautiful. The JRG and wheels are perfect. I love the color. I have a '99 XK convertible in green with tan int. my first Jag, and get more compliments than I ever expected. Thanks for sharing your car.

RayR, beautiful car! My 2004 could be it’s twin. The leather on my steering wheel is in bad shape. I will investigate the SNG Barratt replacement.

Ray,

You have done well! There is no Car prettier than a beautiful XKR Coupe and your XKR stands-out in the Crowd....I read all the things you did to get that "Shine" and that make me wonder what "a coat of Zymol Jaguar Glaze" is? Is it "Wax" or is it a "Ceramic" Coating?
I want my XKR to shine like your Beautiful Coupe.....

It's a wax, but it's very easy to apply. You just wipe it on with the applicator in a small area and shortly afterwards -- before it dries -- wipe it off with a soft microfiber towel. https://www.zymol.com/jaguar.aspx

Thanks for this information about the Zymol "Jaguar Glaze" It really worked on your Beautiful XKR. I've often wondered about next works best, Wax or Ceramic Coating....I thought I had my mind made-up until I saw your XKR! It's really good looking......

Jon89,

Amazing! I found it for $54.00.....but on second thought, I ordered a Spray Bottle of Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray for $15.99 and a Spray Bottle of Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions for $19.49...I've always liked Turtle Wax Products, so this will be a good test! If it works out as Advertised, you will see Photos of the results by Summer!

Even if the Zymol cost more and it has proven to shine well....I thought I would get on the Ceramic Train this year, as there has been a lot of talk about it! I'll let you know before long....

Here’s the latest batch of images of my XK8 since its respray and ‘de-gingercatorisation’. The first batch are in the Yorkshire Dales in front of Ribblehead viaduct and the last two are on the west coast of England at a little place called Knott End. I quite like the chrome effect (thanks Photoshop). It reminds me of the very fancy and expensive paint job that Eagle used on their promo lightweight E-type restomod. Either way, the shine and reflection is genuine.

That is one shiny machine

I thought 'Pennines' when I saw the viaduct, so not too far out

Xkr -98 out of hibernation, rear right wheel bearing change seems to work ok, as does the new lower rear shock bushings(both). But now I can hear some suspect sound from front shocks...quite a few things still to do on top of that... Cheers!
