Default Cruising the secondary roads

30 miles of hills and curves on a two-lane twisty that connects the wee hamlets of Marion and Tazwell, VA. Worth seeking out if you’re in the area.

Wautuga watershed area NC and TN border.

I love those wheels. They look especially good with the lowered ride height. 👍

Smile Cam Tensioner Replacement

Hello everyone. New owner here.

I thought this forum and thread would benefit from recent upgrade of cam tensioners on my XK8 with 31,363 genuine miles. Car has extensive and regular services but I could not determine if the Cam Tensioners had been replaced. And with a low mileage it was looking unlikely. I want to keep this beautiful car for some years. I negotiated a discount from the dealer to budget for this job, before purchasing the car. It’s wasn’t cheap, but reduced the risk of failed tensioners in the future.

I hope it helps those considering whether to replace or not.

Many thanks

Default Track day

Hi all

When I suggested to my friends I would take my much loved XK8 to a track day, at Abingdon airfield, they laughed!
Well, after the naming ceremony of "Your Grace" to the beast. I let rip..
With only 127K miles on the clock, with original Engine and gearbox, I was mildly fearful..
I should not have worried, I never went above 6k revs.. and treated the cat with respect..
Only one light came on on the way home(70 miles)..Grearbox fault, but a stop and restart sorted that!

Thank you, I feel they should be driven, preserved and enjoyed, but not thrashed! They are not Italian

+2 on driven. Was it a club event or DE? We have alot of track days here in AZ through many clubs and orgs that can get you out there. Looks like top down with a helmet on is the way to go LOL. Thanks for the Action pic.

Cheers, Mike

Default tensioners

To BRIT 1956
Well they look ok, but starting to go and the very best thing to do IMO.
Plastic & hot oil at pressure..crazy idea, Sachs should have known better !!!
Lovely low mileage example! How I wish...
