Phil,
Your car is simply outstanding! What a great job you've done updating it while keeping it so classy. Bravo!

Default Miss V at the beach

Can you tell I love this car? I followed a lowered and chopped '58 GMC half ton with an outrageous paint job into one of our automotive superstores a couple of days ago. I mentioned to the old fellow I had seen get out of the truck that he might take me in a straight line but I would surely catch him in the first corner. He immediately recognized me as the guy in the "little sportster" who had followed him in. I said I wasn't sure which vehicle I liked better and he laughed and said that is the trouble with car guys. Doesn't really matter what it is, you like 'em all I sure do love the Jag though. I just got a bumper sticker which is for my little Ford Tempo beater. It says in large letters "My other car is a JAG" and then below in smaller letters "No, really, my other car IS a Jag"

Driving on West River Road on Grosse Ile, MI, stopped to take this picture of the Detroit river with two freighters in the background. I left the car running with the antennae up, wished I had turned the car off. It was a beautiful day to snap a picture of my '01 XKR.

Default My "new" 2006 XKR Convertible

Hi guys - dropped a note in the new member section. What a great board this is. Here's my 2006 XKR Convertible. 32,200 miles, Quartz Grey (LHK) with Dove (LHJ) interior. The vehicle summary from FordEtis doesn't say it's a Victory Edition so the person who first ordered it must have done an amazing job to make it look that way (seats, badges, brakes, carbon dash, etc).
Here goes:

Hein2006XKR.

A Bunch of us had a session about the "Victory Edition" about month ago and as you say it sure looks like one....The White Badge on the Front and the Dash sure is a give away......I can't see the Tail lights but I was told that they were blacked-out also....Check that as that would be a dead giveaway....

here ya go. it's a beauty. LOVE the color!

The special XK 'Victory' edition road cars will arrive in four exclusive, limited edition exterior colors – Black Copper Metallic, Frost Blue Metallic, Bay Blue Metallic and Satin Silver Metallic – (other standard XK colors will also be available on 'Victory' models) with four interior colors and two distinct veneer options for the dashboard to create 18 possible combinations for the buyer to choose from. ‘Victory’ editions will offer Carbon Fiber interior trim on all XKR models, as well as feature a new Elm wood veneer on the XK8 models.

The 2006 Jaguar XK 'Victory' models will benefit from several additional new features including standard Bluetooth® wireless connectivity. With Bluetooth, a compatible telephone may be wirelessly controlled via the XK's steering wheel controls, without ever leaving the driver's pocket or purse, for easy, hands-free use.

The XK8 models currently feature 19-inch 'Atlas' style wheels, which will come standard with a sporty chrome finish, while the XKR models get a new, unique 20-inch BBS wheel design (Perseus). The XKR also gets cross-drilled Brembo® brake rotors, while the XK8 adds power-fold exterior mirrors.

Tying in with Jaguar's racing heritage, special badging and accents will adorn the 'Victory' models in acknowledgement of the XK's racing achievements – polished door treadplates featuring checkered flag emblems and leather-edged floor mats. The Jaguar Growler badge also features checkered flag accents on the sides of the emblem.

Thanks. The wheels throw me off. It's got the 19 inch chrome Atlas. Rest all seems to fit.

I had a Final Series 4.2-S Coupe which was the RoW (Rest of the World) equivalent build specification to the US Victory Edition.

Jaguar produced a superb hardback book for this series instead of the usual glossy brochure and I still have my copy. It shows Atlas as the 'standard' wheel fitting with Sepang as an additional cost option. Most buyers appear to have gone for Sepangs as every Victory and Final Series I've seen has been fitted with them.

Hein2006XKR, Beautiful car, love the color! The Ford ETIS wont explicitly say Victory Edition. It should show "Interior Carbon Fibre Pack" as one of the items listed under Minor Features list. The Bluetooth phone interface was also standard on the Victory edition so that should also be on the list.

GGG, in the US, the 20" Perseus wheels were standard with the Victory Edition package (on XKR's) but I have seen many VE's with the 19" chrome Atlas which was optional with the VE package.

I just joined the Wonderful World of Jaguar this last Friday and I just LOVE this car!!!!! It's a 1998 model with about 49,500 miles on it. It just purrs. I've had the usual suspects of sports cars such as a Chevy Camaro, 280 ZX (Datsun), Toyota Celica. I've run the range of the midsize cars. I've had a Jeep. Even at 19 years old the Jaguar is leaps and bounds better than everything. There are a couple quirks that need some attention such as the key remote (they are both shot and maybe work 1 out of 20 times), the cd changer is no longer working, I think a speaker may be shot, and yeah the stereo in total. Most of it will be handled once I upgrade the stereo (I really want Bluetooth and iPhone integration). Seeing how the stereo is integrated into the other dashboard stuff I have a feeling this will not be fun or inexpensive. Still though, it's completely worth it.

I've had two perfect days of Florida weather to drive it. Seriously, I love my Jag. Ha! I get to say my car is a Jag . I don't have a garage so I'm going to have to keep some serious wax on it. The finish has no fading on it as far as I can tell. It was owned by one person who seems to have taken great care of it in it's 19 years of service. Jheez, under 50,000 miles in nearly 20 years. That's just crazy.

Anyway, here are some photos (best I can do with iPhone).

Wag, been thinking of putting the "Bond" vents on my XK8. Not sure if they are even available anymore. Does the hood have to be cut to install them? Any chance you could post a photo of the inside of the hood/bonnet showing the vents up close?

BY the way, for Bluetooth phone integration and iPhone music payback through your existing stereo, I solved my problem and bought a Motorola ROADIE for $60. It has the best sound of any of these Bluetooth to FM tranmistters I've tried, and I've tried a few. It also has voice commands for answering an incoming phone call and auto on off. It has turned my 2001 silverstone XKR into a completely current vehicle when it comes to audio. Higly recommended.

I just came back from the car audio shop and changing out the stereo is far more trouble than it's worth. I'm gonna get a transmitter wired into the stereo and a USB dock installed.

Thanks for the input!!!
