Strange things happening under the Bonnet!!!
Raise the Bonnet, have your Sister start the XKR.....then have her put her foot on the brake very firmly and hold it tight! Put it in gear....Then give it a goose....If you need Motor-mounts, the Engine will jump up an inch or two.......If not.......well your good!
Oh! I forgot....don't stand in front.......................

1997 XK8
I have had this great car for over 7 yrs. I bought it with the 20” wheels on it.
The engine was not running, exactly what I was looking for.
I had a low mileage LS6 Zo6 Corvette motor sitting around. This car was the ideal new home for it.
It was mated to a GM 4L65E 4 speed automatic. It has been a reliable and fun combination.
I have put almost 35K miles on the car since the conversion.
I have the best of both worlds. The style and ride of the Jaguar with the power and reliability of the new generation LS6 motor.
I have recently installed 05 xkr Brembo brakes. Upgrading the rotors from 12” to 14”. It makes an amazing difference in stoping power.

How hard a job was that? What about fit, etc.? What is the weight difference between the engines? Isn’t the 4.2 “R” engine around the same output? What is the performance difference between your car and the 400 hp R?Just curious? Tom :-)

In terms of weight the ls6 is approx 460lbs and a n/a version of the ajv8 is 440lbs so with the supercharger and water charge cooler I'd estimate closer to 500-510lbs

Yes, the engine is actually smaller than the original. The engine was modified with AFR heads and matching cam. Giving me 438 hp at the wheels on the Dyno. A beefed up 4L65e tranny with a 2800 rpm stall converter. It is the torque this engine produces at low rpm that makes all the difference.Locally I have a long on ramp onto I95, with lots of room. By the time I reach the interstate, I can easily reach 120mph. What more do you need? Never thought I would still be hot rodding cars at age 77.

I guess that it would be an understatement to say, that’s exciting! Maybe downright SCARY! I had an R and I never was comfortable really getting on it “for very long”. Even my 8 is intimidating, but I admit, yours does have a great appeal. I like it. Thanks for sharinjg. Tom :-)

I've never had that model but I thought to chime in - having had a 2010 shape XKR and now driving an f type, I was driving into work today for the most part next to your model XKR (the one with the "fangs" on the grill) in a BRG coupe and I was thinking that has to be the prettiest jag since the XJ220. The cigarette shape is the closest to the e type, it is already a classic and I could never see it going out of style.
Coupled with that, I thought that the 4.2 engine sounded the best out of all of the Jag engines (though when I had it in an XF I had a paramount back end put on to make it louder), and it retained the supercharger whine in the R that they managed to tame in the 5.0.
I'm jealous.

The old 4.2 "R" version V8......
Corryvett,
My 2005 XKR Coupe had been treated badly when I found it in Dallas 5 years ago. Someone over in Texarkana had not changed the oil for the last 38000 miles and it smoked like crazy as the Breathing Filters in the Cam Covers and all the Drain-holes in the Heads were stopped-up with gunk! A sad shame to say the lest but an opportunity to rebuild!
Started with the Heads....took them to Joe in Tomball and he Ported and cleaned up the Valves and Guides and set everything up, including taking .025 off the Heads to make it 9.5X1 Compression Ratio! The Combustion Chambers and Valve Tops and the Piston Tops were Ceramic Coated by Poly-Dyn here in Houston....The entire rotating assembly was Balanced and reinstalled along with a much larger bottom Pulley and much smaller Pulley on the Supercharger shaft.
In addition, the ECU was reprogramed by Phil at Eurotek Designs in New York. Then, the Larger water to air intercooler and Larger water pump was installed to keep the load cool....and about a year ago, I installed a Snow Water/Methanol Injector system to introduce that cooling mixture into the Throttle Body......Now Snow has come-up with an additive called Nitro-Booster that you mix in with the Water/Methanol. It's suppose to increase your HP a bunch......
I'm going to Dyno the Coupe soon and get 3 readings: (1) Just the Engine, (2) With the Water/Methanol and (3) with the Nitro-Booster added......should be interesting!
Of course all of this is meaningless compared to Kenny Bell Screw-type Supercharger set-up that creates 600 or more HP on the XKR Engine.
You were talking about Hot-Rodding at age 77.....What about 81?
