I want to thank this forum's members for the tips and info I received prior to the purchase. It was a tremendous help! THANKS!

Sadly there are two pigments that really don't like the sun, one is red the other is silver. You'd think black would be a bigger problem (white, of course, is generally best for lots of sun). So find shade when you can.

Silver and most other colors will fade if exposed to direct sun light for extended periods of time. That's why all my cars are stored indoors when not in use. Thanks for your concern, much appreciated.

I always find it intriguing how "good driving weather" varies according to where you live. Here in the north Atlantic.
From my point of view in mid West Europe, I can confirm that the SoCal guys are moaning at a very high level ...

Right now my Kitty is purring in the sunshine and not moaning. She loves to ride the wind at night during the summer on the freeways. Definitely a nocturnal animal during the hot months and hides from the sun due to a fear of skin cancer.

Here are a few from a run out in rural Utah with the British Motor Club of Utah last weekend. 2001 XK8, we've had her about 6 weeks and I'm glad we're getting more driving days than snow days now!

Just my mostly stock 2003 XK8 nearly daily driver. No good "posed" photos yet. I've really got to do that with some nice backgrounds now that spring is finally here. 82F today and I did snap a couple in the parking lot. Not as clean as it should be as it's pollen season here now! I just love the lines of this car! It's got me wanting to add another to the stable. Like maybe an XKR Coupe!

Cool Slazz, XK8 Rebel & Rossettequarrier & your XK8's

Slazz, I'll pick you 1st, as you need to stop worrying about the Paint fading and drive the car....You can always Paint it!
Now, for all of you.....You need to bring you XK out of the past.....Get rid of the Amber Side Marker Lens and buy some Clear ones.....also, you need to get some Clear Repeaters.....
Now, for Rossette......? (What's that all about?), behind those Jaguar Emblems on your Front Fenders is wiring for Repeater Lights (Blinkers)! Just push them forward a little or is it backwards? or does it matter? and they will come off.
go to eBay and you will find Repeaters and Side Marker Lens...It's easy!
I did the trick to my XKR last year and I really like the way it looks! If you like it and you need help with how to do the Job....Just let me know!

Thanks for the advice - I may well do this. Question for you - did you leave the rear reflectors red? I cannot quite make it out in the pic you posted. Cheers!

PS the Rosetta reference is a long story; I stick with it as it's always available :-)

D'oh... I double posted the response above and I'm not sure how to get rid of it so change it to this...

Hey Billy Clyde,
Your link doesn't work. I've toyed with replacing the side marker lights behind the wheel wheel in clear. Just need to track down a set I know will work for a reasonable price.

Billy,
I appreciate the mono theme with many colors but after going back and forth with my white wonder I quite prefer the amber and red bit of color it adds to the car.
What do you think?

I agree the white looks better with the colored lenses.

Your car would look great with the black background leaper emblems on the side and blinkers moved up to the front like I did.

Question eBay website....

Sorry about the eBay website.....I had just gone to that Website and looked at all those things....Clear repeaters & Clear Side Markers...saved the address and posted it on the forum......as you can see! But it won't work!
It was an eBay website from England...I will continue to look for it Tonight.....As it had everything!

WYMJYM, You have a beautiful White Convertible! Red, Amber or Clear....doesn't matter!!!!good luck with it!

Rothwell, I still have my Leapers from my old 2000 XKR....They are either Red or Black...Can't remember for sure....Thanks for reminding me! But the Repeaters I have now are Crystal and really look great.....

Strange. Works fine for me - not that helps those that can't get access. Tis a good souce of bits and bobs. I have changed all amber and red reflectors on my JRG cat, including indicator lenses, and if def looks better on that colour scheme. However, I am considering the smoked lens option which I like the look of too, along with seeing if I can get tinted windows and rear 3/4 glass (not sure the proper name for the rear windows).

It's a beautiful car and the heat is the main reason that I bought a coupe. Though I am considering a 2003 to 2005 XKR Convertible for the few months when it's cool enough. Enjoy your Cat, beautiful!

I too have an XK8 though a coupe, seriously looking for a 2003 to 2005 XKR Convertible. I think the x100 and 120's are among the sexiest and comfortable cars out there. Enjoy the warm weather up.north!

First off, beautiful car... Clear leans tinted black might look pretty sharp on white car... Would give it a more modern look while still having contrast... just my thoughts...
