Wink X100 Love

So, now I get it!
I've had my first Jaguar since the end of June, just 2 months. Was reading lots of posts on the forum prior to purchase and while lusting after an XK8 for its looks and great V8, I couldn't help but wonder: do these cars really have that many problems, and why are all these people so passionate about them?
Up until yesterday I was really limiting how far I drove it before I got the timing chains, guides and tensioners changed, and then noticed that the upper shock mounts were starting to crumble (that is progressing and I've been in contact with Wayne).
Yesterday, decided to take a day trip to the mountains of Virginia to do a little hiking with my wife and our dog. It was about a 350 mile round trip, no Interstate, but some 65 mph highways and some back roads. This car drives like a dream! Even with the crumbling shock mounts it is great. Comfortable, quiet (even with top dropped) and so smooth. REALLY nice car. Just had to report, now I understand.
Now I love her for more than just her good looks.

Default Timing chain tensioner and guides

Great that you are loving your car. DO NOT delay dealing with the timing chain tensioners!!!!!
These have a tendency to fail as they are plastic and age/engine heat and wear will cause failure. Camshaft fails to keep valves where the must be so valves and pistons collide. You will have no engine if this happens to your car!

Thanks Ken. The first thing I did was change cam chains, guides and tensioners, and now driving without fear. Big job that was!
